Job description



Winchester College has a vacancy for a Resident Housekeeper/Matron. Founded by Royal Charter in 1382, Winchester remains one of England’s premier independent schools, with a firmly established and enviable reputation. It has 700 pupils accommodated in eleven boarding houses. Working collaboratively with the Housemaster, the Housekeeper/Matron is accountable for the pastoral care and well-being of up to 65 boys aged 13-18 years. He/she must have an adaptable professional approach in order to manage the House, House Surgery, domestic staff and everything from supply ordering to the upkeep of accounts. He/she also liaises with parents and the school’s Medical Centre on medical and welfare matters and must be fully prepared to respond to emergencies. A full clean driving licence and a car of his/her own are essential.
