Job description

Bodorgan Estate would like to invite applicants for the post of Housekeeper.

Home to the Meyrick family for 700 years, Bodorgan is a dynamic, highly varied and magnificently beautiful estate, and the largest private land-holding on the island of Anglesey in North Wales.

Bodorgan Hall is a sizeable mansion house, run to a very high standard. Lived in by the Meyrick Family for many hundreds of years, it is both a living family house and also a piece of history to be preserved for future generations.

A housekeeper is required who is highly sensitive, energetic and faultlessly organised. The family does not live in the house year-round, but when there they entertain on a large scale, so need a housekeeper who is equally on the ball when faced with deep cleaning tasks and the business of caretaking and inspections, as well as a house full of guests. Bodorgan is particularly busy during the shooting season and the summer months.

Job requirements

The ideal candidate should be highly self-motivated and always one step ahead of the needs of the house and its occupants; both child-friendly and guest-friendly; an excellent cook, who really delights in preparing food for the family and their guests; and someone with a proven understanding of the ways of old houses. There are currently two other part-time domestic staff who support the role of the Housekeeper.

A start date of mid-August is envisaged with salary dependent upon experience iro £19,800 plus close accommodation.  Employment opportunities may also be available to the applicant’s partner.
