An exciting opportunity has arisen to look after the ancestral home of the Dukes of Wellington, Stratfield Saye House, Hampshire. It was the country home of the 1st Duke of Wellington and continues to be lived in by the Duke of Wellington and his family. During specific periods of the year it is open to the public. The house is set in beautiful countryside and has a rich history.
The role is varied. However, the successful candidate must be able to carry out the following duties: Lead the staff who maintain and care for the House, prepare the house for public opening and private tours, prepare the exhibition in the stable block and the reception centre, cleaning and care of works of art and other contents of the house, preparing the house for all events, arranging extra staff when necessary for functions at the house, liaising with gardeners regarding flowers in the house for public visits and functions, be able to drive and have a clean driving licence and manage the security and fire procedures for the House.
The successful candidate should have leadership skills to manage a small staff who look after the house, an interest in works of art and their care would be desirable and an experience of housekeeping or care of a house is desirable. Good management skills, initiative, flexibility to respond to short notice requests, exceptional team spirit, discretion, be 100% trust worthy, have an eye for detail and accept only the highest of standards and be prepared to go that extra yard.
